Male
Mottled Duck and Mexican Duck overlap only in extreme southeastern Texas. Mottled Duck is extremely similar to Mexican Duck, but has a paler cheek, more uniform bill color, and a more limited eyestripe. Mottled also shows flank feathers with buffy edging and distinctive buffy internal V-shaped markings.
