Crows
Tamaulipas CrowCorvus imparatus
- ORDER: Passeriformes
- FAMILY: Corvidae
Basic Description
The Tamaulipas Crow is a distinctive little crow of northeastern Mexico with a striking glossy plumage and a comical croaking call. Best known to U.S. birders as an occasional visitor to the Brownsville landfill, this species is poorly known in its main Mexican range, where it inhabits open areas, farmland, ranches, and villages. Like other crows, it is social outside of the breeding season and is omnivorous, though its diet and breeding behavior remain to be fully documented.
