Calls

The most common call from this species, given by both sexes, is a short, sharp “squeaky toy” sound. The delivery is highly variable: it can be given singly or doubly, by one individual or two birds simultaneously, and with or without short introductory notes. Other calls include a short, loud “wheet” given in a long series, with an occasional squeaky call interspersed.
