Songs

Males deliver a high-pitched, undulating warble to overflying females during courtship displays.

Calls

Both sexes often give a landing call when returning to the nest. Male landing call is a repeated, accelerating teeeu-teeuu-teu or eck-eck-eck. Females give landing calls less often, described as wiiick-wiick-wick or a much lower urnk-urnk-urnk. Great Frigatebirds also give a soft “reeling” call, like the sound of an unwinding fishing reel. Typically silent at sea.
